Crochet!

It's the last day of 2008. How did that happen? With the holidays being as they always are, I knew I would be away from the blog for a while. Had about four different celebrations, but they all went well and overall the holiday season was fantastic. Zach and I are working on reclaiming our apartment before we go back to school for the next semester. So what has happened in the past week?

-We registered for gifts, which included a very lovely time at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and a very frustrating time at Sears. Don't register there if you can help it.

-I taught myself to crochet the basic single crochet stitch last Tuesday, and started a crocheted baby blanket for my boss, who is expecting twins.

-Feeling adventurous, last night I taught myself to double crochet and this morning I finished my first crocheted square!


There it is! I know its a got some issues, but I was pretty proud of it! I'm hoping to make my own pattern and make more squares, maybe in the pattern, maybe not, and turn it into a blanket. Time will tell.

Anyway, that's most of the new news. Going to call to make an appointment for trying on dresses... fun!

Christmas Eve

I love Christmas. It has always been my favorite holiday, and I hope it continues throughout my adult life. I love that Zach and I are both off of school and we don't have that added pressure. I love all the decorations and lights. I love getting gifts for other people and anticipating their expressions when they open them. Tonight is Zach's family's Christmas Eve party. We went last year and it was lots of fun. His aunt is a great cook and we don't see them very often even though they live about 10 minutes from his parents and about 30 minutes from us.

Knitted presents are almost done. Mom's scarf is almost long enough. I think she will like it. It's simple, but it's knit with chenille yarn so its very soft and warm.

Simple, but I think she will like it. I will get pictures of the hat up later... its close to finishing and looks weird right now so I will just wait. I should really get a digital camera... I use my cell phone for pictures right now. It works pretty good for a phone, but the quality just isn't there.

First Post!

While this is a new blog, it's not my first. I wasn't happy with the old host, so I moved here. Hopefully I will like this new home better. It's Christmas Eve Eve and of course I still have WIP's to finish for gifts. I really enjoy making gifts for people. I'm not sure if it's the sense of satisfaction knowing I made something, or if it's the joy that someone else gets from getting a homemade gift, but I try to make at least a few of my gifts each year. This year I made Zach's three nieces scarves, and I'm still working on a scarf for my mom and a hat for my dad. None of them are from patterns... I just kinda made it up out of my head. I still need to wrap the gifts for my family.

The wedding planning continues. Registering is put off because we realized trying to register for wedding gifts while there are crazy last minute Christmas shoppers probably wasn't a good idea. I also need to find a dress and pick out bridesmaid dresses. Oh the craziness.
