I think this has to be the oddest month. I'm not really sure why, but it just seems to be odd to me. Not nice weather (ever!), the only holiday is Valentines day (which after all the holidays in nov and dec and jan seems sad) and its so short! Maybe I'm just prejudice.
Anyway, I realized something the other day. I have never knit from a pattern. I look at patterns, think they are nice, and might even use them as an idea for something I knit. But I always just wing it, making it up as I go. Now, up until a few days ago I had only knit/crochet scarves, blankets, and knifty knitter hats. Not exactly complicated stuff. But I'm really interested in getting better and expanding my horizons, so I decided I wanted to make myself a hat without the loom.
I found the most amazing hat here and decided that this was going to be the hat I made for myself. I ignored the warning *this is not a pattern for beginners* and forged on. I was using a really pretty soft black yarn that I can't think of right at the moment. It took about 15 minutes for me to become frustrated and give up. I am still a beginner, and that pattern was not for me. So I decided to just wing it. I'm not very far yet, and I'm not even sure that this will work, but if it seems like it might I will put up pictures. Wish me luck!
